Wowzer! Greatest new album in years
I had gotten "Machine Head"'s New album "The Blackening" right after it was released. At first I thought that there was one or two songs that were pretty good, but that was pretty much it. Over time, hearing it playing in the backround, I realized that this album was something different. 8 songs only? Well, at first glance, yes. But most of the songs are over 6 minutes long. And they are composed of 3 songs a piece, kind of rising in intensity gradually, sort of like a TOOL song. Melodic, drawn out, and intense. The first track touches the issues i've been saying for a long time, only Robb Flynn and Phil Dremmel have put it to music. Alot of you athiests would love song # 6 entitled "HALO". It's one of the most harmonious songs i've heard in awhile. The last song on the album called "a farewell to arms" kind of takes over where the first song left off, and just might be my favorite song on the album. I recommend this CD to everyone. It is a breath of fresh air since nowadays almost all new music sucks. Either that or I don't give anything a chance. Now I'm just waiting for Machine Head to bring some touring toward my area. Fingers crossed. At least I won't get cooties.
